A Marshside Tradition Continues

Every year on Marshside, we get a visit from Santa himself on an Old Fort FD Fire Truck.

It starts the same way every year, we hear a very faint siren....and always assume it's a fire truck, police car or ambulance passing by on the way to an emergency. We tend to forget about it and go on our merry way and then we hear it again and again and FINALLY someone in this house remembers....

the FIRE TRUCK.....WITH SANTA.....IT'S COMING AGAIN THIS YEAR!!

Last year, it was an early discovery and the Grant children spent the better part of a very cold day waiting on the front porch. I have photos of them last year wrapped in blankets drinking hot cocoa and later eating lunch while they waited. We waited ALL DAY LONG last year and finally around 4pm, we got our long awaited visit.

This year was slightly different....this was a good thing. Lilly had a birthday party to attend and we had evening plans so we waited only a short while before the truck arrived at the top of the street. Still the wait required the blanket on the porch -- we are NOT experiencing the balmy and humid temperatures we often do even for this time of year...it's COLD here.

As always, Santa remains behind the reins on the top while our local firemen pass out candy to the neighborhood children. It's always a treat and puts many smiles on the faces of our little ones.

Thank you to the firefighters of Old Fort Fire Dept! We appreciate the job you have each and every day and the tradition you continue at Christmastime!
