First, Miss Lilly had her Easter Egg hunt at preschool last Tuesday, followed by her Easter party. It was a sweet and special time. Lilly had a great time finding eggs...that's always an Easter activity that flies by at top speed...a mad dash to find them and kabam, it's done. As soon as the mayhem ended, we realized that Sarah was very sad to find she had only gotten one Easter egg in all the excitement. I am so very proud to report that Lilly went straight over and offered her friend an egg from her bag and this started a trend with the rest of the class. I am not sure how many Sarah ended up with but she might have ended the hunt with the most eggs of all!! And that, to me, is the best part of the day - that Sarah is loved by her friends and even at 4 years old, they are learning how much more important it is to give than to receive.
The kiddos returned to their classroom and had a yummy Easter snack (remember those cupcakes Lilly made??). After the festivities, the Bethanys (sans Julie and our flu patient Carrie) got to sneak out for a 2 hour Mommies Only Lunch!! WOO HOO!! Many cups of coffee were consumed, many funny stories were shared and much MUCH laughter was heard by the other restaurant patrons. Good times for sure, as always.
We wrapped up the week with one more egg hunt. Winston's kindergarten class took a walking field trip to our house for an egg hunt and picnic lunch. God heard our prayers for a break in the rain and we woke up to a GORGEOUS Friday morning. My friend and neighbor, Katie, and I share Room Mom duties for the class so we were busy Friday morning wrapping 32 hot dogs and hiding 180 eggs. The kids were so cute walking single file down our street. We had them line up side by side and wait for the "go" signal. Once Mrs G gave the command, they were off to the races and it was great to watch. Again, the hunt lasted a mere 2-3 minutes but SO MUCH FUN. Shortly after the hunt, we got a special visit from the Easter Bunny. The Bunny stayed for hugs and a big class picture. We did have one little class friend who had a freak out moment over the fuzzy bunny suit...I believe he might have quite a character phobia and should steer clear of Disney for a good long time. Poor guy, he stayed inside the house until the coast was completely clear.
Because the ground was wet and the wind was blowing, we made a last minute call to have the class eat their lunch inside our house (gulp). It worked out beautifully - we had them sit on the floor in the office and entry way (thank you God for hardwood floors!) and the Moms and teachers served them their plates. It was a really great morning. Winston has some great kids as classmates and I have had so much fun getting to know them all this year. They enjoyed lunch and cupcakes for dessert. It was time for them to head back to school and Winston stood at the bottom of the porch and handed them each a goody bag as they left. He was a great little host. What a wonderful kindergarten memory he will have.
More to come..Charlotte weekend was wonderful and a much needed getaway. Daddy's home safe and sound.....life is slowly returning to normal...whatever that is!!
