First, brace yourselves....there are 22 kindergarten friends coming over this morning for an Easter Egg hunt and a picnic lunch to officially kick off a week of SPRING BREAK. I am really excited that because of our proximity to school, Winston's class can take a 5 minute walk down the path and be here. A few neighbors on our street have done this with their children in past years and I have wanted to steal the idea when our kindergarten year arrived. Should be great fun!! I've even heard rumors that the Easter Bunny might "hop" on over...stay tuned for pictures next week!
After all the egg hunt fun, we leave for Charlotte mid-day...a MUCH needed departure for us all. It's been a challenging few weeks for our family and we are thrilled to be getting away to enjoy some fun together. We haven't lost sight of our blessings, Joe has a job and we are all in good health but sometimes it feels that the "hits" keep on coming.
We will miss the annual Flowertown Festival this year but Auntie and Unc Unc's house is going to be MUCH more fun...as will our Saturday trip to Carowinds. We pick up Joe from the airport around dinner time - FINALLY back to a happy family of 4!
While we're away, 2 big things will be happening.....
First, my dear friend and fellow Bethany celebrates her birthday on Saturday. I am happy to report that even thought I will miss her big day, we will be celebrating together next week.
A few words about Carrie....
She is loving, she is fiesty, she is hilarious, she is tender, she is BIG FUN and she makes my life better because she's in it. Carrie is fiercely independent but she is learning to be vulnerable and trusting with her new group of Bethanys and well, THAT makes me so happy!! She is also learning to let God handle the big stuff.....never an easy thing for us gals who like to be in control but I love seeing what God is doing in her life.
So Carrie - I say to you....I love you so much and thank you for letting us LOVE ON YOU!!
And lastly, my dear friend, Kathy, will don her running shoes once again and conquer the Bridge Run on Saturday morning. I don't know if conquer is the appropriate word...you see Kathy is the Summerville version of the Bionic Woman. She is super fit and serves as such an inspiration for me to continue on my road to great health, so honestly a 10K run across the Cooper River Bridge is really more like a 30 minute cardio routine to her. She's going to knock that out in under an hour no doubt and I wish I could be cheering her on at the finish line. Kathy is below in the picture with the girls - making pumpkin rolls with the girls. She can cook AND run (but I've never seen her do both at the same time ....I would bet money she COULD!!)
So as we depart for our weekend.....I say to my two very special peeps....
Happy Birthday Carrie!!
and
GO KATHY GO!!
